Rumors of a threat against the Plum Senior High School that spurred an investigation have no merit, a letter from administrators states.

According to a letter from high school Principal Joe Fishell, several Safe2Say submissions and emails were received by the district regarding an alleged allegation that a student had made a threat against the school for Friday.

Fishell did not detail what kind of alleged threats were made, however he noted in the letter, “We have no reason to believe that the allegation has any merit.”

District officials, along with school and Plum police officers, began an investigation into the allegations that were received through the state’s Safe2Say something program, which allows students to submit anonymous tips online that are reviewed by a crisis center and sent over to impacted schools.

According to Fishell, the allegations stem from a comment that was allegedly made, “but we have no evidence to indicate the words were even spoken,” he wrote. “As is often the case with social media, many individuals passed on that information, which caused even more Safe2Say submissions.”

Fishell noted the allegations have been investigated, addressed and cleared by the school and police officers.

If additional information is uncovered, it will be passed on to students and parents.

“Our team appreciates the students and families taking the time to make these submissions and share information as it shows the dedication of the Plum community to keeping our schools safe,” he said.
