The house at 205 Rocky Lane in Upper Burrell sustained heavy damage Saturday in a fire but is still standing.

Chad and Carolyn Clark had replaced the roof and gutters, repainted and remodeled most of their house along scenic Rocky Lane in Upper Burrell.

Things were moving ahead until a weekend fire.

At about 6 p.m. Saturday, an electrical fire changed plans for the Clark family of five.

Everyone got out safely and firefighters took care of the blaze without injury.

Chad Clark is a firefighter who has been an assistant chief and president of Upper Burrell Company No. 1.

The fire hall, along Seventh Street Extension, is located less than a quarter-mile from the house where the Clarks have lived for 15 years.

On Sunday, Upper Burrell No. 1 Chief Bryan Fisk said about 50 firefighters from six volunteer fire companies were sent to the blaze.

“Upper Burrell arrived in about 8 minutes, closely followed by Lower Burrell No. 3 and Washington Township and Kinloch,” he said.

Becuase of Saturday’s heat, another unit, Sardis, was summoned to provide a break for the others, Fisk said.

A Murrysville medic unit provided tents, fans and other means to help the volunteers cool down.

Fisk said the units gained the upper hand on the fire within about 25 minutes, but it took much longer to confirm that it wasn’t continuing inside of the walls.

The Clarks were looking for an insurance adjuster to arrive Sunday afternoon.

Four other families live along the tree-lined Rocky Lane.

“Our neighbors all keep to themselves unless someone needs something, and then we all help,” Chad Clark said.

It happened Saturday, he said.

Neighbors and firefighters were checking on them all day Sunday.
