Crews began demolishing a house Tuesday at 304 Charles Ave. in New Kensington. The city sought to tear down the house, abandoned for more than 20 years, after council in January would not consent to its sale from the county’s unsold repository. Council cautioned a contractor interested in rehabilitating the house that others had tried only to walk away after realizing it would cost too much to repair.
