Second full-time officer working in Gilpin
Gilpin Supervisors on Monday hired a second fulltime police officer and two part-time officers.
It may be the first time in more than a decade for the township to have two full-time officers, Supervisor Chairman Charles Stull said.
Police Chief Chris Fabec said Patrolman Chad Shoupe is now a full-time officer. He will be paid a little more than $40,000 annually. Fabec also is full-time.
Shoupe, of Allegheny Township, had been a part-time officer in Gilpin for about two years, Fabec said.
Also hired as part-time officers were Cody Bagwell, of Penn Hills, and J.T. Naviglia, originally of Lower Burrell. He also is a fulltime officer for Manor Township.
Part-time officers’ starting pay is about $17 an hour. That increases to $18.31 an hour after a probation period is completed.
