State Sen. Lindsey Williams will be opening an office in Harrison.

The new district office will open sometime this spring in the Heights Plaza.

“Currently, we have a signed lease, and there is some work being done to update the space,” said her spokeswoman, Becky Boyle. “Bringing a full-service office to the area has been a major priority for Sen. Williams, and she is excited to have it become a reality.”

Williams, a Democrat, represents the 38th Senatorial District. It covers northern Allegheny County and the Alle-Kiski Valley communities of Brackenridge, Cheswick, East Deer, Fawn, Fox Chapel, Frazer, Harmar, Harrison, Indiana Township, Springdale, Springdale Township, Tarentum and West Deer.

Williams was elected in November 2018 when she narrowly defeated Republican challenger Jeremy Shaffer. Shaffer, a Ross commissioner, won a spot on the ballot after defeating incumbent Randy Vulakovich in that year’s primary.

Vulakovich did not have an office in Harrison. His predecessor, Jim Ferlo, did, according to Harrison Commissioner Chuck Dizard.

Williams currently has one district office on McKnight Road in Ross.

Williams having an office in Harrison is “very important,” Dizard said.

“This will be her second and probably her only other office,” he said. “That gives the Alle-Kiski Valley, and Harrison Township in particular, very front-and-center and regular exposure and contact with her. It represents and investment on her part in the issues that we live with daily here.”

Boyle said the Harrison office will be open full time and will have the same services as the McKnight Road office.

District office staff can help residents schedule tax preparation appointments and obtain tax forms, property tax and rent rebates, and Low Income Heating and Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) applications.
