The Southern Allegheny Valley Emergency Services hopes to reel in a big crowd for its annual Good Friday fish fry — a tradition in the Lower Valley for more than 50 years.
Chief Mike Daniher said the large cod fillet is the department’s No. 1 seller.
“We sell over 750 orders each year,” he said. “And we deliver!”
Orders will be available for take out and delivery from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 29 at the Sharpsburg station along Main Street.
Hungry customers will be in luck.
In addition to the fried fish dinner for $12, there also is a shrimp dinner for $11. Both come with coleslaw and fries.
Fish sandwiches go for $9. A la carte items such as mac and cheese and pierogies will sell for $3.
Anyone who wants to get their order in early can call ahead, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at 412-781-1116. Online orders will be accepted from 8 a.m. Wednesday to noon Thursday.
Southern Allegheny Valley Emergency Services was formed last year when the Sharpsburg and Aspinwall departments merged.
