Springdale says its public works crews will be out for the duration of an expected snowstorm this weekend, but it’s asking residents to stay home and keep their cars out of the way.

In a statement, the borough said Springdale Police would only respond to emergencies. For those seeking to file a police report, the statement said, police response will likely be delayed or take place over the phone.

To make room for plow trucks, the borough is also asking residents with driveways to park their cars there. If drivers must park on the street, they should pull close to the curb and fold in their side mirror, the statement said.

Public Works drivers will also assist emergency responders with access to scenes, the statement said.

Allegheny Valley Emergency Management Coordinator Bruno Moretti asked that residents shovel around fire hydrants to save crews time in the event of an emergency.

“Our crews take pride in their efforts to lead the way with clearing our roads. Please do what you can to help them,” the statement concluded.

The storm is expected to begin Saturday evening and extend into Monday. It could dump a foot or more of snow throughout the region, meteorologists say.
