Springdale’s Amanda Monnich is uniquely qualified to provide online classes teaching people how to decorate freshly baked sugar cookies.

Formerly a teacher with cyber-school experience, Monnich, 31, became inspired to run her cookie business full-time after taking a cookie-decorating class in 2019.

“It was just a fun hobby, and now, it’s a fun business,” said Monnich, who runs Sprinkled With Love out of her home.

Monnich began offering virtual cookie-decorating classes in January. The six classes held so far on the online platform Zoom have drawn between four and 14 students.

Those who sign up for a class will receive a kit that includes baked cookies, prepared icing, a cookie cutter, Monnich’s cookie dough and icing recipes and tools that are needed for the class, which costs $30 per lesson and lasts up to an hour and a half.

Different themes will be incorporated into every class, she said.

When she’s not hosting virtual classes, Monnich is busy filling cookie orders. Her most popular item is her custom sugar cookies with royal icing. She also makes assorted drop cookies: chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, oatmeal raisin, thumbprints, peanut butter blossoms and gingerbread. Orders can be placed on the Sprinkled With Love website.

Upcoming virtual classes will be Friday and Saturday. Spots can be reserved by contacting Monnich at 412-913-3051 or apmonnich@gmail.com.
