Those looking for some exercise on Halloween can participate in a foot race that delivers a free beer for your participation.
Springdale’s Leaning Cask Brewing Company will be holding a Boos & Brew Run Day at 11 a.m. Oct. 31. This is the brewery’s first Halloween-themed run. Leaning Cask started holding runs one Sunday a month, from spring to fall, a couple of years ago. The last run is held in September.
”This was a surprise edition,” said Stefanie Lipke, co-owner of brewery. “Lots of people asked if we were having a run since Halloween is on a Sunday.”
The race is free and open to all ages. Participants can choose between doing the 5K or 1-mile path. Lipke said participants over the age of 21 will receive a free pint after the race at the brewery. Costumes are encouraged.
Check-in and registration will take place in the back of the brewery between 10:45 and 11 a.m.
The races averages 40-60 participants each month. The Halloween race has 20 people registered so far.
”People really love it. It has all been positive,” Lipke said.
The idea to hold monthly runs came after the company discussed how the brewery could hold something fun and fitness related. Lipke said she saw other breweries hold fitness events like yoga or cycling events, but not any for running.
“Being a runner myself, I thought it would be something fun to build community and promote fitness,” she said. “With this, you can burn calories and put them back on.”
Leaning Cask regularly books food trucks. For the Oct. 31 event, the Elegant Catering food truck will offer breakfast and brunch items starting at 10 a.m.
