State police accused a Ford City woman of stealing a former neighbor’s car when he went back to the neighborhood to pick up mail.

Crissy Dawn Bowser, 42, of the 300 block of 3rd Avenue, was charged with felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property along with criminal mischief.

She is being held in the Armstrong County Jail after failing to post a $25,00 cash bond, according to court records. She faces a preliminary hearing before District Judge J. Gary DeComo on Feb. 22.

A man reported to police that he went to his former residence on 3rd Avenue on Feb. 15 because he still gets mail delivered to the home, according to a criminal complaint.

He told a trooper that he left his 2007 Dodge Caliber running when he went to check the mailbox and saw Bowser run out of her house, get into his car and drive off, the complaint said.

The vehicle was recovered the following day with a smashed rear windshield when a trooper spotted it in the parking lot of the Fox’s Pizza Den on Grant Street in Kittanning, police said.
