A Lower Burrell woman accused of hitting two people with her car near the Tarentum Bridge late last month will face a March trial following a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Lois A. Davis, 55, had two felony counts of accidents involving death or personal injury held for court along with one count of failing to stop and render aid.

Police say Davis struck Lyric Manley Jackson, 26, and her 9-year-old daughter, Symia, while they were crossing Route 366 (Ross Street) at the bridge intersection at Seventh Avenue on Dec. 30.

Minutes afterward, Davis was seen on surveillance cameras inside the New Kensington Giant Eagle on the opposite side of the bridge for 20 minutes. Police said they identified her vehicle through camera footage. According to court documents, Davis told police she didn’t notice the damage until she arrived home and did not know how it happened.

Investigators say footage from a camera near the Tarentum Bridge captured the license plate on Davis’ vehicle, a 2018 Chevrolet Trax SUV, along with the crash.

A trial date in Allegheny County Court is set for March 8. She has been released on her own recognizance, according to court documents.

Symia Jackson was treated and released from the hospital, according to police; her mother, however, remains in critical condition according to a GoFundMe organized by Jackon’s sister.

Davis did not respond to questions from Trib news partner WPXI as she headed into court Wednesday.
