Norfolk Southern railroad crews ripped out old pavement at its Corbet Street crossing in Tarentum last year. Upgrades are scheduled for another crossing, at Center Street, next week.

Work by Norfolk Southern will close a Tarentum rail crossing for two days next week.

Paving and repairs will be made to the crossing at Center Street, which turns into W. Fourth Avenue near the tracks.

A member of the Norfolk Southern media relations team said work will begin Thursday morning and is expected to wrap up by Friday evening. Specific times were not given.

“We know these temporary closures can be an inconvenience and appreciate the community’s patience and understanding during this important work,” the representative said in an email.

Work follows a 2024 project by the rail company to repair several deteriorated crossings in Tarentum and Brackenridge. Crumbling pavement and potholes were repaired at Corbet and Lock streets, among others.
