With spring firmly in place and the first day of summer just a month away, life is returning to Tarentum’s Riverview Memorial Park.

The spray park in the First Avenue park has reopened, and a free monthly movie series will start Thursday.

The first showing for “Movies by the River” will be “The Lego Movie 2.” The movies will start at dusk and be shown in the green space near the pump house at Main Street, borough Council President Erika Josefoski said.

Those attending can bring blankets or chairs. Guests can bring their own refreshments or buy from a food truck.

Future movies are “Ralph Breaks the Internet” on June 20; “Avengers: Endgame” on July 19; and “Incredibles 2” on Aug. 21.

The spray park, near Corbet Street, has opened for the season. It’s in operation from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“We will be getting new shade sails later this year, which are desperately needed there,” Josefoski said.
