Tarentum water valve installation finishes early
The installation of new water valves in Tarentum has been finished early.
The work, initially expected to take two weeks, was completed on Thursday, Borough Manager Michael Nestico said.
Residents were warned on Jan. 3 that the work could cause brief water outages.
Nine new valves were installed as part of the nearly $70,000 project, partially funded by a $32,000 grant.
They will enable a more reliable supply of water and help in reducing the duration of outages when a waterline breaks, according to the borough.
Valves were installed at First Avenue and Ross Street; First Avenue and Corbet Street; Fourth Avenue and Ross Street; East Seventh Avenue and Corbet Street; East Seventh and Lock Street; West Eighth Avenue and Grantham Street; West 10th Avenue and East Street; and West 11th Avenue and Center Street.
Nestico said two waterline breaks, both on Grantham Street, were fixed on Thursday.
