Television crew to scout South Buffalo site for new Apple TV+ series
A film crew for the Apple TV+ series “Parallax” is set to scout an area of South Buffalo along the Allegheny River on Monday for the new crime thriller.
Some residents in the small Clinton neighborhood of South Buffalo received flyers from the crew informing them a technical scouting group will be in the area around 2:30 p.m. Monday.
“This involves department heads and key crew members visiting the area to plan and coordinate the shoot,” the notice read. “A larger group will be present during this time, and they will be arriving together on a chartered bus.
“We expect their presence to be brief, and they will do their best to stay out of the way.”
Though the flyer notes a filming date of July 22, South Buffalo Supervisor Paul Bergad said the crew is scouting only the area at this point.
If the crew would seek to film extensively in the area, it would require approval from local government, he said.
“Parallax” is based on crime novels by Lars Kepler — the pseudonym used by Swedish writers Alexander and Alexandra Ahndoril, a husband-and-wife team.
According to an Apple TV+ release, the 10-part series follows a soldier-turned-detective who leaves Philadelphia for a quiet life in Western Pennsylvania. There, he becomes embroiled in the investigation into a local serial killer.
The show stars Liev Schreiber as Detective Jonah Lynn, Stephen Graham as serial killer Jurek Walter and Zazie Beetz as FBI agent Saga Bauer, who is Lynn’s adopted daughter. It will be developed by A+E Studios and Range Studios.
“Parallax” is the working title of the series, though production company A+E Studios has said the series remains untitled.
