Free paper shredding event planned at Clearview Federal Credit Union

A free paper shredding event and electronics collection will be hosted from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lower Burrell center of Clearview Federal Credit Union, 3271 Leechburg Road.

There is a maximum of four 50-pound boxes of household shredding per person, no businesses please. Each box must be able to be handled by one person.

Electronics will be accepted for Computer Reach. Computer Reach is a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit organization that makes technology available to people most in need through refurbished equipment, computer literacy, training and support. Acceptable items include laptop computers, desktop computers, flat-panel monitors, keyboards, mice, networking devices, computer bags, computer wires and computer speakers. Items that will not be accepted include printers, CRT monitors, televisions, telephones, fax machines, loose internal computer components, scrap metal and household appliances.


Volunteers needed at Apollo Meals on Wheels

Apollo Area Meals on Wheels is looking for volunteers to help prepare meals and deliver meals to clients.

Hours for kitchen help are 7 to 9 a.m. and drivers 9 to 11 a.m., both Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays. For details, call the office at 724-478-3117.

Saturday: The Outdoor Discovery Center at Crooked Creek will offer a hands-on program for families with children who are at least 7 years old, “Leap Into Herpetology,” at 11 a.m. at the center, 142 Kerr Road.
