Leechburg Hall of Fame induction slated

The 17th annual Leechburg Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony will be May 16 at Gilpin Fire Hall, 113 Firehall Road.

Bishop Larry Kulick of the Catholic Diocese of Greensburg will be master of ceremonies. Individuals being inducted into the Hall of Fame include Ryan Sprankle, Doug Sprankle, Joe Felchow and Mark Maszgay, posthumously.

Appetizers and dinner will be at 6 p.m., followed by the induction ceremony. Tickets are $25 and include cocktails, appetizers and dinner.

Tickets may be purchased at Nextier Bank, Leechburg Pharmacy and Leechburg Public Library, all on Market Street, and Sprankle’s Neighborhood Market. The event is sponsored by the Leechburg Area Community Association.


Service to remember members of the music community

Trinity United Methodist Church, Brackenridge, will host a Celebration of Lives and Music service at 2 p.m. May 2 at the church, 847 10th Ave.

Over the past two years a number of people in the music industry have died, from fans to professionals, musicians in every field and genre, and at every level. The event will celebrate their lives, gifts and music. To remember a musician, send their name and a hi-res photograph to Jonnye Weber at 2golfers2@comcast.net by Monday.


Tarentum church collecting used mobility aides

Central Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, is collecting canes, crutches, walkers, shower chairs, incontinence supplies and manual wheelchairs to be donated to Global Links, a charity that works to redirect still-useful materials away from landfills to support public health programs in targeted communities throughout the Western Hemisphere.

Items can be brought Mondays through Saturdays through June 30 to the church, 305 Allegheny St. For details, contact the church at 724-224-9220 or email centralpresoffice@verizon.net.

Today: Knead Community Café in New Kensington will hand out free grab-and-go dinners from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the café, 1011 Barnes St. This week’s meals are sponsored by The River - A Community Church. Those picking up meals are reminded to observe social distancing while waiting in line.

Saxonburg

Today through Sunday: Firehouse Subs will be sold from 3 to 8 p.m today at the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company Carnival Grounds. A food truck festival with eight vendors will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Sponsored by the fire company.

South Buffalo
