Saved By Grace to serve free Breakfast for Dinner

A free drive-through Breakfast for Dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Saved By Grace Church, 739 Prospect St., Brackenridge.

The menu will include pancakes and sausage. Advance orders are encouraged by calling 724-230-6739.

East Vandergrift Lane to be closed for repairs

East Vandergrift Lane that links Vandergrift to East Vandergrift between Franklin Avenue and McKinley Avenue will be closed beginning Monday for two months for repairs.

Fire department response assignments will be sent to mutual aid departments to compensate for the detour Vandergrift units must take because of the closure. Although construction work will begin at High Street on Vandergrift Lane, emergency vehicles will have access to High Street. Additional police patrols will be in effect to increase coverage of East Vandergrift and compensate for the detour.

Detour signs will be posted to assist people to navigate the alternative routes.

Donations welcome for the Friendship Garden Food Pantry

Donations for the food pantry in the Tarentum Friendship Garden can be dropped off at the pantry on First Avenue or at the side doors to First United Presbyterian Church, 913 Lock St., Tarentum.

Items needed include cereal, bread, canned vegetables, soup, macaroni and cheese, rice, spaghetti and pasta sauce.

Auditions planned for Vandergrift play

Auditions for roles in the 2-act Play, “Vandergrift,” planned for Aug. 8 at the Casino Theater will be done online on May 2.

Fox’s Pizza and Pittsburgh Penguins to distribute free pizzas

Fox’s Pizza and the Pittsburgh Penguins Players will give away 200 personal pizzas at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Tarentum Marina, First Avenue.

Volunteers handing out pizzas will be wearing gloves and masks. Vehicles should enter the marina at First Avenue and Ross Street and will exit on the Fourth Avenue Side of the marina.

Seita Jewelers to match contributions to Allegheny Valley Association of Churches

Seita Jewelers in Tarentum is challenging residents of the Alle-Kiski Valley to make monetary donations to the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank.

Allegheny Township

May 17: The free Fishing Derby at Northmoreland Park that was planned by the Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks and Recreation is canceled, as are all park facility reservations for April and May.

Apollo

Apollo Area Historical Society museum will remain closed until at least May 2. The April 5 program about trolleys will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at the WCTU Building, 317 N. Second St.

Arnold

Recycling collection has been suspended until further notice. All garbage and recycling items can be placed out for the garbage crew to collect. All items must be in a bag and tied up. No loose items will be picked up.

Thursdays: Worship services at Arnold Towers are canceled.

Arnold United Methodist Church: All meetings, activities and services are canceled.

Bell

June 20: The craft and vendor fair planned at Bell Township Volunteer Fire Hall is canceled.

Leechburg Recycling Center is closed. There will be no pick-ups or drop-offs until further notice. No materials should be dropped off in front of the recycling center gate.

First United Methodist Church: worship services are canceled until further notice.

Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church has canceled all Sunday services and church activities. Food bank service for April is canceled.

St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church is closed for all services, fundraisers and activities.

Plum

Plum Community Center is closed and all events canceled. Meals on Wheels will continue as scheduled. Those over 60 who are food insecure or rely on the daily lunch can continue to pick up Congregant Lunch provided by the county on a take-out basis only. Pick-ups will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Tax forms have now been placed into the Little Free Library since the library is closed. AARP Tax Appointments have been postponed and representatives will contact clients directly who have an upcoming appointment.

West Deer

East Union Presbyterian Church: all services and activities are canceled, except for West Deer Food Bank and Meals To Go distributions.
