Auditions set for July production of ‘The Addams Family’ musical

Armstrong Community Theater will conduct auditions for the upcoming production of the musical, “The Addams Family,” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 8 at the Worthington Civic Center, building B, 214 E. Main St., Worthington.

The show will run July 16, 17 and 18 at the Casino Theater in Vandergrift. To audition, please prepare a short section of song to perform and bring accompaniment on CD or a music-playing device with an aux cord port/ headphone jack. A brief dance will be taught and performed with a small group of others auditioning and you may be asked to read from the script. Face masks will be required during the audition.

Actors who are at least 16 years old through senior citizens are needed. For details, email info@armstrongcommunitytheater.org.


Drive-through food distribution set at Lernerville Speedway

Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-through food distribution for anyone in need from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway, 313 N. Pike Road, Buffalo Township. No cars are permitted to arrive before 11 a.m.

Reservations are required to ensure enough food is available and they fill up quickly. To make a reservation, visit pittsburghfoodbank.org/get-help/drive-up or call 412-460-3663, ext. 655. Have your license plate number of the car you will be in at the event, name, email, zip code, date of birth and current weekly income on hand. Bring your confirmation page or email for your reservation to the event. There is no required proof of eligibility and anyone is eligible for food.

Individuals must remain in their vehicle. After pulling up to the distribution area, recipients should put their car in park and unlock the trunk or backseat for the food the be loaded.


Allegheny Valley Hospital offers scholarships to medical students

The medical staff at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison, is offering two $2,500 medical scholarship grants to students enrolled in an approved U.S. medical or osteopathic school.

Applicants must be residents of Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler or Westmoreland counties and have not previously received am AVH Medical Scholarship Grant.

A letter must be submitted to request scholarship consideration, explaining why he/she should be awarded the grant. In addition, applicants are required to have a letter from their educational institution stating they are in good standing. There is no application form other than the letters.

Letters should be sent to: Allegheny Valley Hospital, Medical Staff Office, Medical Scholarship Grant, 1301 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, PA 15065 or faxed to 724-226-7464.
