Peoples Library seeks new board members

Peoples Library, with locations in New Kensington and Lower Burrell, is seeking engaged, committed individuals to serve on the library board of directors.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, live within the library service area that includes Allegheny Township, Arnold, Hyde Park, Lower Burrell, New Kensington, Upper Burrell and West Leechburg, and commit to at least one three-year term that includes 10 monthly meetings, various committee meetings and events.

Salvation Army free lunch distribution planned Thursday

The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center in Brackenridge offers free grab and go lunches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.

The band American Pie will perform a free concert from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the Carl J. Magnetta Memorial Amphitheater in Riverview Park, First Avenue, Tarentum.

Thursday: Zion United Methodist Church, Buffalo Township, will host a community blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. in the church Family Life Center, 438 Bear Creek Road. Appointments recommended. Today and Saturday: Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania will host registration events from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars pavilion, 1601 Wildlife Lodge Road. New Kensington

Thursday: Knead Community Café in New Kensington will hand out free grab-and-go dinners from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the café, 1011 Barnes St. This week’s meals are sponsored by Westmoreland Community Action. Those picking up meals are reminded to observe social distancing while waiting in line.
