Cash bash to fund trip to Florida basketball tournament

Burrell Boys Basketball Boosters will host a cash bash from 7 to 10 p.m. May 19 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars pavilion, 1601 Wildlife Lodge Road, Lower Burrell.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $30 in advance, $35 at the door and includes buffet dinner, two beverages and one entry for the drawing. BYOB and light snacks. There will be a basket auction, and corn hole and can jam games. Must be at least 21 to attend.

Lower Valley Community Food Bank to host bingo fundraiser

A spring bingo to benefit Lower Valley Community Food Bank will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Acme Club, 230 Herron Ave., Harmar.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Cost is $25, and includes six bingo cards for 10 games, soft drinks, water and popcorn. Extra cards, tickets for special games and lottery sure tip tickets will be sold. There will be a basket of cheer raffle and 50/50. Bring non-perishable food items for the food bank and receive a free bingo card.

View Venus and Mars at free star party

Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will host a free star party at 8:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Nicholas E. Wagman Observatory, 225 Kurn Road, in Deer Lakes Regional Park, weather permitting.

You can bring your telescope, and AAAP members will be happy to help you with set up and operation. Bring binoculars, a blanket and camping chair.

Friday through Tuesday: The Butler County Bookfest will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Monday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Butler Farm Show grounds, 625 Evans City Road. Over 100,000 used books and media will be available. Proceeds benefit the South Butler, Slippery Rock and Prospect community libraries.

Fox Chapel

Friday: Swing Into Spring, a fundraiser to benefit Fox Families Care, will be from 7 to 11 p.m. at Fox Chapel Golf Club. There will be dancing, cocktails and a dinner station. Cocktail attire recommended. A VIP reception will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets: foxfamiliescare.org.

Saturday: Allegheny County Parks Department will sponsor a free drive-in movie in the park at dusk at the amphitheater at Hartwood Acres Park. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. The featured film will be, “Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank,” rated PG. Audio will be available at 87.9 FM.

Harrison

Saturday: Kiski Township Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a bingo to benefit the Fox’s Pizza Den Spring Church Back to School Carnival at 7 p.m. at the firehall, 1037 Route 56. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets: $30, includes one pack of cards, food and drinks.
