Traffic stoppages planned Monday on Tarentum Bridge

PennDOT will conduct 15-minute traffic stoppages as needed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday in each direction on the Tarentum Bridge.

During the stoppages, crews will perform jacking operations on the bridge which requires no traffic be on the structure.

Motorists can expect a 16-day full closure and detour for expansion dam and latex deck replacement this summer.


Knead Community Café accepting donations

Knead Community Café, New Kensington, is accepting donations to help the daily operation of the café, 1011 Barnes St.

Items on the café’s wish list include white premium napkins, Clorox wipes, disposable latex or nitrile gloves size large or extra-large, 6x6-inch or 9x9-inch single compartment Styrofoam hinged takeout containers, Styrofoam coffee cups with lids, foil sheet wraps, instant iced tea mix with lemon and sugar, Tide or Gain laundry powdered detergent and Sam’s Club gift cards.

Items can be taken to the cafe during business hours 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The cafe is closed for the Easter weekend and will reopen at 11 a.m. Tuesday.


Hydrant flushing to begin Monday in Harrison

Harrison Water Authority will begin to flush hydrants on Monday.

The project will take several weeks. Customers should test water before doing laundry or drawing large quantities of water because it may be discolored. Water color usually clears within a few hours.

April 20: Kiski Township Volunteer Fire Department is accepting orders for a Marianna’s Hoagie and Pizza sale. Orders and payment are due by April 10. Delivery will be April 20. Hoagies are 14 inches and varieties are Italian, ham and Swiss, turkey, All-American, roast beef, smoked ham and cheddar, traditional, three cheese and ham club.
