Concordia fishing derby open to kids

Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Jefferson will have its free Fishing Derby for kids 14 and younger from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 22 at Saxony Farm Estate, Addy Boy Lane, Jefferson Township.

Participants should bring a fishing rod and lawn chair or blanket. Concordia will provide bait and a limited number of fishing rods. A fishing license is not needed for children younger than 16. Social distancing will be encouraged and disposable masks available.

Hot dogs and refreshments will be available and prizes awarded. Registration is preferred. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Clothes collection box available in Washington Township

A collection box for gently-used clothing is located at the Washington Township Municipal building parking lot, 285 Pine Church Road.

Clothes collected are donated to Paralyzed Veterans of America. For details, call 724-727-3515.

New Kensington-Arnold School District

Tickets available for district’s Kennywood Day

Kennywood Day will be June 6 in the district. Tickets will be sold from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Valley Jr.-Sr. High School and 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Roy A. Hunt Elementary School.

Tickets are $29 each. Only cash or money orders made out to Kennywood will be accepted. Tickets can also be purchased at Kennywood.com/newken. There is a $3 processing fee plus tax for tickets purchased online.

Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays: The Thrift Store Clothing Ministry at Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth St., will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, noon to 3 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Gilpin

Sunday: Leechburg Area Pool Board of Directors will meet at 6 p.m. at the pool, Park Drive. New board members are needed. Public welcome.

Harrison

Today: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.

June 11: St. Joseph High School is conducting a $20,000 Super Raffle. Cost: $100 per ticket. Prizes include a $20,000 grand prize, three $1,000 runner-up prizes. Winner need not be present. Only 500 tickets will be sold. Tickets: 724-226-7877. Proceeds help to keep tuition affordable for students at the school.

Kittanning

Saturday and Monday: The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., will be open from 11 to 1 p.m.
