Manos Gallery seeking entries for child’s art exhibit
The Manos Gallery, 320 E. Fifth Ave., Tarentum, is accepting entries from children age 5 to 18 for a juried art exhibit.
The gallery will select a young artist to who has a passion for the arts and would like to showcase their works in a three-day juried art exhibit. Artwork should be no larger than 16 x 20 inches, and of any medium, such as painting, sculpture or photography. Only one piece may be submitted. Entries will be divided into age groups: 5 to 10, 11 to 15 and 16 to 18. Photographs of the artwork should be emailed to manosgallery@yahoo.com by April 30.
Results of the selected artist will be announced in early May. A scholarship will be awarded to the top three entries.
Peoples Library updates services
Peoples Library in New Kensington and Lower Burrell will now offer browsing and computer use by appointment.
Masks are required and social distancing will be observed. Materials are to be returned to the book drop outside and curbside pickup will remain available. For an appointment, call the New Kensington location at 724-339-1021 and Lower Burrell at 724-339-1565.
New Kensington Cleanup event seeks volunteers
The annual Clean Up New Kensington event is planned for noon to 4 p.m. Sunday in the city. Rain date is April 18.
Areas to be covered include downtown New Kensington and Parnassus. Volunteers will meet in the parklet on Fifth Avenue and Eighth Street for supplies and zone assignments. Pizza will be served from 3 to 4 p.m. at Voodoo Brewing, 956 Fifth Ave.
Volunteers should bring gloves, brooms, garbage claws and shovels. Garbage bags and water bottles will be provided. Face masks are encouraged.
Groups are welcome to register in advance by sending an email to sonwardyouth@gmail.com. The event is sponsored by Sonward, Olde Towne Overhaul and Westmoreland Community Action.
