Animal Protectors welcomes donations

Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley, 730 Church St., New Kensington, is accepting donations to help with daily operations of the shelter.

Items needed most include Purina FortiFlora Probiotic Supplement, Provecta Flea and Tick treatments, Comfy Cone Elizabethan collars in all sizes, chewy treats for dogs, Kong Wobbler dog toys, white copy paper, gift cards and an Easy-Up tent. Salvation Army accepting summer camp reservations

Reservations for summer camp at the Salvation Army Camp Allegheny in Ellwood City are now being accepted.

Cost is $25 per child per session and includes transportation. Sessions available include music and arts camp June 20 to 25 for children age 7 to 14; sports camp July 11 to 15 for age 6 to 12; and Indiana Jones Adventure camp July 18 to 22 for ages 6 to 12.

Food drive ongoing in Highlands School District

Highlands High School National Honor Society is sponsoring a community food drive through Friday to benefit families in the school district.

Non-perishable food items and canned goods can be taken to any school district building office or the administration center, 1500 Pacific Ave., rear.

Thursday: The Keystone State Quilters and Sewers will meet at 7 p.m. at the Allegheny Township Municipal Building, 136 Community Building Road. Members sew items for family and friends as well as veterans, nursing homes, UPMC Children’s Hospital and cancer patients. Meetings are at 7 p.m. the first and third Thursday of each month. April 16: Bell Township Volunteer Fire Department is holding a “You’ve Been Egged” fundraiser through April 11. Candy-filled plastic eggs can be delivered April 16 to your yard in the Bell and Avonmore areas via the firetruck with the Easter Bunny or a basket can be left on the porch with a note from you.
