Earth Day bike raffle to benefit Animal Protectors

Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley is holding an Earth Day bike raffle online.

The winner will receive two unisex bikes, two air pumps, two helmets, two pairs of gloves, two handlebar bags, a bike lock, one year membership to the Butler Freeport Community Trail, trail t-shirts and local bike trail brochures.

Summer drive-in movie series to begin Friday

The Allegheny County Parks Family Drive-In Movie Series will begin the year Friday night at the Boyce Park Wave Pool parking lot, 740 Frankstown Road, Plum.

The free featured film will be, “A League of Their Own,” rated PG. Gates will open at 6 p.m. and the movie will begin at dusk. Gates will close when the movie starts, or the venue reaches capacity.

Movie audio is played through a radio transmitter on 87.9 FM.


Cheswick Council schedules special meeting

Cheswick Council will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the borough firehall, 1411 Spruce St., to discuss personnel issues and any other matters that may come before council for consideration.

All future agenda and regular meetings will be held at the firehall. Regular meetings will be the third Tuesday of each month and agenda meetings the Wednesday before the third Tuesday of each month, both at 7 p.m.

Today: Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open to anyone in need from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Pull into the center parking lot and food will be placed into your vehicle. Those who are not yet registered should come from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will resume weekly bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50/50 raffle and final game jackpot.

Kiski Township

April 20: Kiski Township Volunteer Fire Department is accepting orders for a Marianna’s Hoagie and Pizza sale. Orders and payment are due by Saturday. Delivery will be April 20. Hoagies are 14 inches and varieties are Italian, ham and Swiss, turkey, All-American, roast beef, smoked ham and cheddar, traditional, three cheese and ham club.
