Golf outing to benefit Dynamic Community Foundation

Dynamic Community Foundation, sponsor of the Feeding Freeport program that ran this summer, will host a golf outing Aug. 29 at Birdsfoot Golf Club, South Buffalo.

The event will be a four-man scramble. Registration will begin at 1 p.m. and the shot gun start will be at 2 p.m.

Cost is $80 per player and includes dinner by Fat N. Nat at 6 p.m. Tickets for dinner only are $25 and must be purchased in advance.

Highway cleanup looking for volunteers

Kiski Watershed Association will sponsor a clean-up day Saturday on River Road in Parks and Market Street in Leechburg.

Anyone who would like to volunteer should meet at 9 a.m. at the pull off near River’s Edge Canoe and Kayak, 3185 River Road.

Gloves, vests and trash bags will be provided. Volunteers should bring a mask for a group photograph. Social distancing will be observed.

Oakmont Carnegie Library open by appointment

Oakmont Carnegie Library is now open by appointment for browsing, computer use and visits to the Squirrel’s Nest.

Up to five people from the same family can browse at the same time. Face masks are required. Lobby pickup is still available.

Tarentum church collecting used mobility aides

Central Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, is collecting mobility equipment to be donated to Global Links, a charity that works to redirect still-useful materials away from landfills to support public health programs in targeted communities throughout the Western Hemisphere.

Items in need include canes, raised toilet seats, shower chairs, IV poles, crutches, walkers, shower chairs and non-electric wheelchairs

Penn State Extension offers free webinar on camping

Penn State Extension will offer a free webinar, “Camping Adventure: A Safe Guide to the Outdoors,” at 1 p.m. Aug. 17 and 24 online. Choose which session you wish to view.

Families and individuals are welcome to learn how to safely enjoy camping and other outdoor activities. Topics will include food safety, cooking tips, personal safety and activities.

Bike run planned Aug. 22 by Ashley’s Angels

Ashley’s Angels will sponsor a motorcycle run and after-dinner gathering Aug. 22 at the New Kensington Eagles, 2134 Freeport Road.

Registration will be at 9:30 a.m. and kickstands up will be at 11 a.m. Cost is $20 per rider; $10 per passenger; and includes dinner at 4 p.m. Tickets for the dinner only are $15.

There will be an open cash bar, music, a silent auction and 50/50 raffle and 10-minute chair massages will be sold for $1 per minute.

Proceeds will benefit Ashley’s Angels charity that raises money to help families who have lost a member to the opioid epidemic.
