Annual Riverbration planned in Kittanning

The Kittanning Boat Races Riverbration event will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Kittanning Riverfront Park.

There will be food, vendors, free kids’ activities and entertainment each day and boat racing on the river by the Three Rivers Outboard Racing Association and American Power Boat Association.

HOPE Center shares summer wish list

The Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center, Tarentum, needs items for the clients that it serves.

Items needed include diapers, wipes, children’s underwear, socks, slippers and flip flops. Gift cards in $10 increments from Sheetz, GetGo, Giant Eagle, Community Market and Walmart are also welcome.

Donations can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the HOPE Center administration building, 500 E. Eighth Ave., Tarentum. Call 724-224-1100 when you arrive.

Local churches collecting used mobility aides

Central Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, and Bethel United Methodist Church in Lower Burrell are collecting canes, crutches, walkers, shower chairs and manual wheelchairs to be donated to Global Links, a charity that works to redirect still-useful materials away from landfills to support public health programs in targeted com munities throughout the Western Hemisphere.

Central Church is acting as a collection point for the collection. Clean items can be dropped off through Aug. 31 at Central Church, 305 Allegheny St. For details, call the church at 724-224-9220 or visit Central Presbyterian Church on Facebook.

Harrison

Today: The Agape Thrift Shop at Grace United Methodist Church, 1333 Freeport Road, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Clean fall and back-to-school clothing in all sizes is needed. No housewares or bedding please due to lack of space. Bring donations on Wednesday or leave them on the front porch. Do not place donations in the blue bins behind the church.
