Changes made to annual Spartan Scramble golf outing

St. Joseph High School, Harrison, has announced changes for the 28th annual Spartan Golf Scramble, planned for Sept. 18 at Lenape Heights Golf Resort, Manor Township.

Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. and 18 holes of golf will be afterward.

The auction will be held online beginning Sept. 10 and end on the day of the outing, Sept. 18.

Dinner will be boxed and may be eaten outdoors or taken home. Additional changes on the modified format will be announced the week before the outing.

‘Harwick Remembered’ on sale at Springdale Library

Springdale Free Public Library is selling copies of the new book, “Harwick Remembered,” by Carroll Gagliardi Lund.

The book includes photographs and interviews with many of the Harwick village people. Cost is $25 plus tax.

To purchase a copy, call the library at 724-274-9729 or stop in at the library, 331 School St., Springdale.

Proceeds will benefit the library.

Free lunch offered Wednesday at Allegheny Valley Church of God

Allegheny Valley Church of God, 216 Catalpa St., New Kensington, will serve free grab and go lunches at noon Wednesday.

Chipped ham barbeques will be served for as long as the food lasts. For details, call 724-335-0994.

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank open Wednesday

The Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open to anyone in need from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Food will be bagged in advance and placed into vehicles. To make a donation, send a check to AVAC, 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, PA 15065-1524.

Food Truck event planned Wednesday in Apollo

The Wheel Good Wednesday food truck event sponsored by the Apollo Events Committee and Apollo Area Historical Society will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the old Stanford lot on Clifford Avenue.

This week’s truck lineup will include DelVecchio’s, Hoshi, Ash & Kris Kitchen, Tommy’s Catering and Fox’s Mobile Den.

Food truck vendors who would like to participate at a future event should email apolloevents@gmail.com.

West Deer
