Sports Hall of Fame to open new gallery in Tarentum
The Alle-Kiski Valley Sports Hall of Fame will have a grand opening of its new gallery from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the renovated G. C. Murphy building, on Corbet Street in Tarentum.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 6:30 p.m. Previous inductees and the public are welcome.
The event is part of the monthly Tarentum Night Market promotion. Businesses will be open until 8 p.m.
Salvation Army free lunch distribution offered Thursday
The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center in Brackenridge offers free grab and go lunches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.
Everyone is welcome.
Tuition assistance program available for nursing students
Concordia at Cabot will host two open house and information sessions about its Butler County Community College Tuition Assistance program at 2 and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 24 in the Haven I dining room, 112 Marwood Road, Jefferson Township.
The tuition assistance program offers the opportunity to become a nurse by earning either an LPN or RN degree for free and is open to the community and current Concordia employees.
Registration is preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. To register, call 724-352-1571, ext. 8372 by Friday.
Health screenings available at Tarentum Night Market
The monthly Tarentum Night Market event will be Thursday in downtown Tarentum.
Participating businesses will be open until 8 p.m. The Duquesne University Center for Integrative Health will offer free health screenings from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Murphy Building, 414 Corbet St. No appointments are required.
