Apollo library to offer oral history workshops
The Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance will partner with Apollo Memorial Library to host oral history workshops from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 4 and 11 at the library, 219 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Apollo.
The project is an attempt to document the knowledge, memories and stories of members of our communities so that the past is not forgotten. Topics will include how to conduct an oral history, tips for developing multi-interview project and how to follow best practices in the field.

Family-friendly event to raise funds for Outdoor Discovery Center
“Summer’s Last Fling,” a fundraiser to benefit the Outdoor Discovery Center at Crooked Creek, will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 7 at the center, 142 Kerr Road, Bethel.
The event will be family-friendly and there will be music by the 7 Mile Run Band and Endless Thirst, a buffet dinner, drinks, a silent auction, raffles and a variety of nature-themed activities for the whole family.

Apollo Meals on Wheels seeking volunteer help
Apollo Area Meals on Wheels is looking for volunteers to help prepare meals and deliver meals to clients.

Rally, giveaways set today in New Kensington
Chosen Generations Ministries will host a “Stop the Violence” rally from 2 to 5 p.m. today on Fourth Avenue near New Kensington City Hall, 301 11th St.
The rally is being held in response to recent shootings and stabbings in the community, which have affected several children in the church’s youth group.
The event will include a giveaway of book bags and clothes for the start of the school year, and a giveaway of bicycles.
