East Deer to host summer celebration festival

The East Deer Summer Celebration will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday at East Deer Memorial Park, Freeport Road.

There will be pony rides, an obstacle course, food, games and appearances by local fire and ambulance companies. A car cruise will be at 3 p.m. and the Stagger Lee Band will play from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bring a lawn chair.


Free community fair planned in Tarentum park

Rep. Carrie Lewis DelRosso will host a free community fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Tarentum’s Riverview Memorial Park, First Avenue, rain or shine.

Health and wellness information and screenings will be offered and information on state and county-level services and programs and apprenticeships and career opportunities will be available.

Children may bring their bicycles to practice on an obstacle course and UPMC Children’s Hospital will pass out free helmets while supplies last.

Buzz 724 will run a fitness bootcamp from noon to 12:30 p.m., Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena will do a soccer demonstration at 12:30 p.m. and James 5:15 Boxing Center will conduct a boxing demonstration at 1 p.m.


Kiski Area band to play at Kennywood Park

The Kiski Area High School Marching Band will perform Saturday in the Fall Fantasy Parade at Kennywood Park in West Mifflin.


Free Pot Love luncheon planned Saturday in Leechburg

Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church free takeout monthly Pot Love Dinner will begin at noon Saturday at the church, 271 Main St., Leechburg.

Reservations are required by noon Friday. One dinner per family member limit. Those with reservations will be served first. For reservations, call 724-845-1901 or email church@crcpc.org. Line-up will be outside and social distancing must be observed. Everyone is welcome.


Produce, personal care distribution set in Harrison

Building Block of Natrona will host its free Veggies for All and Cosmetics Closet outreach for residents in need at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 28 Garfield St., Natrona, Harrison.

Patrons should not arrive before 12:45 p.m. Free produce, and personal care and hygiene products will be distributed until supplies run out.

Extra hygiene steps will be taken. Income verification is not required, and everyone is welcome. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.

Sept. 6: St. James Parish is selling tickets for a Labor Day lottery ticket raffle. The winner will receive one roll of $5, $10 and $20 Pa. Lottery scratch-off tickets. Cost: $10 for two numbers. Today: The Pittsburgh Shrine Center will present a free outdoor concert featuring blues band the Bail Jumpers from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday under cover at the center, 1877 Shriners Way. Gates open at 6 p.m. Seating and tables will be provided, and food and beverages will be sold. No outside food and beverages, please.

East Vandergrift

Lower Burrell
