Concert to raise money for NK Memorial Park

New Ken/Arnold Social in the Park will host a Band Blast benefit concert Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Park to help raise funds for renovations and repairs to the park. Rain or shine.

Admission is $5. The event feature festival seating; bring lawn chairs and blankets. Gates open at 11:30 a.m.

Bands scheduled to appear: Opals, 12th House, Johnson’s Crossing, the Epics, Up the River Band, Risen to Save, Mad Alice, the Shiners, Mockin’ Byrd Lane, Big House Pete and Chip and the Charge Ups.

There will be food vendors, attractions, community groups, kids’ activities, 50/50 and more. Visit NewKenArnoldSocial.com for band times.


Bike run planned Aug. 29 by Ashley’s Angels

Ashley’s Angels will sponsor a motorcycle run and dinner Aug. 29 at the New Kensington Eagles, 2134 Freeport Road.

Registration will be at 10:30 a.m. and kickstands up will be at noon. Oakmont Bakery doughnuts and coffee will be served for breakfast. Cost is $20 per rider; $15 per passenger; and includes dinner. Tickets for dinner only are $15. There will be entertainment, a cash bar and a 50/50 raffle.

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre to perform at Hartwood Acres

The Allegheny County Summer Concert Series at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater, Indiana Township, will feature a performance by the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The event is sponsored by BNY Mellon. Food trucks will open at 6 p.m. Rain or shine.


Drive-through food distribution set at Lernerville Speedway

Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-through food distribution for anyone in need from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway, 313 N. Pike Road, Buffalo Township. No cars are permitted to arrive before 11 a.m.

Reservations are required to ensure enough food is available and they fill up quickly. To make a reservation, visit pittsburghfoodbank.org/get-help/drive-up/butler/ or call 412-460-3663, ext. 655. There is no required proof of eligibility, and anyone is eligible for food.

• Penn Hills High School Class of 1975 will have a reunion from 6 to 11 p.m. Sept. 25 at Green Oaks Country Club, 5741 Third St., Penn Hills.
