Cookie and candy sale to benefit hospital auxiliary projects

Allegheny Valley Hospital Auxiliary will host a Cookies and Candies by Christy sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until sold out Thursday in the lobby outside of the Café at Allegheny Valley Hospital, 1301 Carlisle St., Harrison.

Cash, checks and credit cards will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit auxiliary projects for the hospital.

Free lunches available at Brackenridge Salvation Army

The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center will distribute free grab-and-go lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.

Free grocery items from Walmart and Aldi will be available. Everyone is welcome.

Household, personal item donations needed

The Family Promise program at Allegheny Valley Association of Churches needs supplies for the families that it serves.

Items most needed include shampoo, conditioner, new children’s underwear, disinfectant wipes, small bottles of dish soap, disposable storage containers and cutlery and microwavable paper plates. Donations can be brought from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays to the ministry center, 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Wednesday: The Thrift Store Clothing Ministry at Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth St., will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All items are free, but donations will be accepted.
