Band Blast concert to raise money for NK Memorial Park
New Ken/Arnold Social in the Park will host a benefit concert from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Park to help raise funds for renovations and repairs to the park. Rain or shine.
Admission is $5. The event features festival seating; bring lawn chairs and blankets. Gates open at 11:30 a.m.
Bands scheduled to appear include My Friend Tom, Johnson’s Crossing, Magic and Hot Metal Brass, Big House Pete, Curtis & the Shakerz, Boss StingRays, Steel City Ramblers, Big Bad Scary, The Beat Daddies, Chip & the Charge-ups and Davie Iglar.
There will be food vendors, community groups, a 50-50 raffle and more.
Canines to raise cash at annual Tails on the Trails fundraiser
The 16th annual Tails on the Trails dog walk to benefit Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 13 at Freeport Community Park, 115 Community Park Road, Freeport.
There will be vendors, games, food trucks and raffles. Cost is $25 if paid by Sept. 4 and will be $30 the day of the event.

Back-to-school drive collecting supplies, new clothing
Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center Inc. is conducting a back-to-school drive for the families it serves.
Items needed include backpacks, pencils, pens, markers, crayons, glue sticks, folders, notebooks, binders, scissors and erasers as well as children’s socks underwear, shoes and clothing in sizes up to adult small.
Donations can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the administration building, 500 E. Eighth Ave., Tarentum.
