Community Day planned Saturday at Animal Protectors
Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley will host a community day “Fuel the Shelter” from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the shelter, 730 Church St., New Kensington.
The highlight of the day will be the unveiling of two Glassmere Fuel Service trucks with the Animal Protectors logo displayed on each side. Glassmere will make ongoing donations to Animal Protectors of 1 cent per gallon of fuel oil that is delivered from these trucks.
Shelter tours will begin at noon and there will be food trucks, karaoke, children’s crafts, cornhole, face painting, doggy wading pools, a fire truck tour and an appearance by the New Kensington police dogs. Dogs must be on non-retractable leashes.
Free backpacks, school supplies to be distributed
Real Life Church, Arnold, will host a backpack give-away and free breakfast bar from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday on the lawn of VooDoo Brewery, 956 Fifth Ave., New Kensington.
Children can select a free book bag with supplies. The breakfast bar will include pancakes, waffles, muffins and juices. For details, call 724-337-3889.
Kaley’s Kops to sponsor ice cream social benefit
An ice cream social to benefit Lower Burrell Police K9 Buc will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Mogie’s Magill Grill, 3210 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell.
