Hometown Christmas production seeking performers

Rehearsals will begin Thursday for the 25^th production of Hometown Christmas at the Casino Theater, Vandergrift.

Anyone who would like to participate should come at 6:30 p.m. Thursday or Sept. 8 to Just Dance by Justine Albert Studio, 154 Farragut Ave., second floor, Vandergrift. Singers, dancers and actors age 5 to 85 are needed.

Dogs and owners welcome at annual HOPE Center fundraiser

The annual Mutts, Meows and Margaritas fundraiser to benefit the Alle-Kiski Area HOPE Center and its Saf-T Kennel will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars pavilion, 894 Veterans Drive, Harrison.

Dogs and their owners are welcome and there will be a buffet, margaritas and raffles. Activities for canines and their owners will include professional photographs, a sketch artist and photo contest. Cat lovers can email a photo of their pet in advance to maryb@akhopecenter.org. A special photo lanyard will be prepared to wear at the event.

Tickets are $20; $35 per couple, and dogs are free. Dogs must be on a 6-foot, non-retractable leash. Those registered by Aug. 26 will receive a free event T-shirt. Donations sought to finance pavilion at Saxonburg library

South Butler Community Library and Saxonburg Area Rotary Club are partnering to build a large pavilion behind the library, 240 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
