Free concert scheduled Sunday at Christ the King Church

The Kiski Valley Community Band will perform a free concert at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the pavilion at Christ the King Church, 125 Park Road, Gilpin.

Selections will include patriotic pieces, marches and show tunes. In case of rain, the concert will be in the church. If the concert is outdoors, you are welcome to bring a picnic lunch. Bring a lawn chair.


Lower Burrell Meals on Wheels seeking volunteers

Lower Burrell Meals on Wheels is seeking volunteers to help in the kitchen and make deliveries in Arnold, New Kensington and Lower Burrell.

The Jayhawks to be featured at Hartwood Acres

The Allegheny County Summer Concert Series at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater, Indiana Township, will feature a country music concert by The Jayhawks at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The event is sponsored by BNY Mellon. Food trucks will open at 6 p.m. Rain or shine.

Brackenridge

Sunday: An autism-friendly open stage by Band Together Pittsburgh will be from 2 to 5 p.m. in the upper parking lot of Trinity United Methodist Church, 857 10th Ave. Free bottled water and popcorn will be served. In case of inclement weather, the event will be in the church sanctuary or social hall.

East Vandergrift 

Sept. 6: Our Lady, Queen of Peace Parish is selling tickets for a Labor Day weekend cash raffle. Winners will be the first officially drawn Pick 3 number of the 7 p.m. Sept. 4, 5 and 6 drawings. Fox Chapel 

Aug. 12: Fox Chapel Area High School will sponsor a community blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Vitalant Harmar/Fox Chapel Donor Center, 2585 Freeport Road, suite 207. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. Donors must be at least 16 years old. Gilpin 

Today: A towel bingo will be hosted by East Kensington Community Circle at the community circle building, 1785 Seventh St. Cake and coffee will be served at 7 p.m. and bingo will begin at 7:30. Cost: $2 for one board; additional boards, 50 cents each. There will be specials and a jackpot game.
