St. Margaret Mary parish to host annual festival

The annual St. Margaret Mary Parish Festival of Friendship will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the church, 3055 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell.

There will be food trucks, a bake sale, children’s games and rides, bingo and a basket raffle. Friday’s entertainment will include Frankly Speaking from 5 to 7 p.m. and classic country music from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday with Dave Stout. Dave Smith will present classic rock from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday and electronic violinist Steve Vance will play from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday.


Drive-thru food distribution set Tuesday at Pittsburgh Mills

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-thru food distribution for anyone in need from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in parking lot of the former JC Penney store at the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills, Frazer.

Reservations are not required. Guests should remain in their vehicles and open their door or trunk and will be served on a first come, first served basis.


Freeport Theatre Festival to present comedy ‘Baboon’

The Freeport Theatre Festival will present “Baboon” at 7 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Aug. 11 to 27 at the Steele Family Farm off Route 356 on White Cloud Road in Allegheny Township.

Tickets are $15; members of the military, $12; students, $10. Reservations are recommended. The facility is air conditioned and wheelchair accessible. Free parking is available.

Summer concert series to feature the Shelley Duff Band

The free Pittsburgh Brewing Co. Thunder Summer Music Series will feature the Shelley Duff Band at 7 p.m. Thursday at the pavilion at the Syria Shrine Center, 1877 Shriners Way, Harmar.

Gates open at 6 p.m., rain or shine. There is free parking, and food and beverages will be sold. No tailgating or outside food or drinks are permitted.

Tuesday and Saturday: The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., will be open from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Items available include clothing for all members of the family, shoes and linens. First-time customers receive 15 free items. Summer clothing donations welcome during business hours.

Oakmont

Pie varieties: banana cream, coconut meringue, lemon meringue, apple, blackberry, blueberry, cherry, Dutch apple, peach, razzleberry, blue raspberry, bumbleberry, peach raspberry, pineapple cherry and strawberry rhubarb; all $11. Cinnamon rolls: traditional white, maple raisin, cream cheese, peanut butter crunch and strawberry; pepperoni rolls, ham and Swiss rolls and pyro rolls, $6; pumpkin rolls, $11; and snails, $9.
