Civil War event planned in Apollo
Apollo Area Historical Society will host a Civil War Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Drake Log Cabin, 215 Williams Alley, Apollo.
There will be reenactors, authentic relics, an encampment, speakers, firing demonstrations and a flag-raising ceremony.

Family fun day to feature bluegrass band
A free family fun day will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Vandergrift’s Kennedy Park on Jackson Avenue.
Echo Valley Bluegrass band will play from 1 to 3 p.m. and there will be a petting zoo from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Bible bingo, crafts, games, free food and drinks. Bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on. The event is sponsored by Vandergrift First United Methodist Church.
Festival of Friendship set at St. Margaret Mary Parish
The annual St. Margaret Mary Parish Festival of Friendship will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday on the parish grounds, 3055 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell.
