Springdale High School Drama Club to present two plays

The Springdale Jr.-Sr. High School Drama Club will perform two shows in one, “The Charge Is Murder,” and “Our Place,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the high school auditorium.

Tickets are $8; $5 for students and senior citizens; Gold Card holders, free.


Community Christmas party planned in Brackenridge

A community Christmas dance and party for all ages will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the banquet hall at Trinity United Methodist Church, 847 10th Ave., Brackenridge.

The event will be autism-friendly and a particular invitation is extended to those with special needs. Music will be by the Band Together Pittsburgh DJs and food and beverages will be served. Donations will be accepted.


Holiday Night Market scheduled Thursday

Vandergrift Improvement Program will sponsor the Vandergrift Holiday Night Market from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the historic J. C. Penney building, 143 Grant Ave., Vandergrift.

There will be vendors and artisans, refreshments and music.


Santa to visit DQ Grill and Chill in New Kensington

A fundraiser to benefit Valley Points YMCA will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Dec. 19 at DQ Grill and Chill, 2100 Freeport Road, New Kensington.

Santa will arrive by fire truck at 6 p.m. and there will be opportunities for photos with Santa. Toy donations will be accepted for the Salvation Army.

Twenty percent of all in-store sales will benefit the YMCA.


Apollo-Ridge concert bands to perform

The Apollo-Ridge High School and Middle School concert bands will perform their winter concerts at 7 p.m. Thursday in the high school auditorium, Route 56, Kiski Township.


Free soup luncheon planned in Washington Township

Poke Run Presbyterian Church, Washington Township, will have a free soup luncheon at noon Wednesday at the church, 1091 Poke Run Church Road.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Thursday: A free confidential support group for survivors of sexual assault will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. at the HAVIN office. Thursday: Al-Anon, a free, confidential program for anyone whose life has been affected by someone else’s drinking, will meet at 7 p.m. in First United Methodist Church, 251 Main St.

Thursday: The Westmoreland County Republican Committee Christmas party will be at Hill Crest Country Club, 3411 Leechburg Road. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. and dinner will be at 6:30. There will be pasta stations, cash bar, silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. Cost: $25. Details: Rich, 412-303-3413

Vandergrift

Thursday: A spaghetti dinner will be from 4 to 7 p.m. in St. Gertrude Parish church hall, 303 Franklin Ave. Menu: spaghetti, one meatball, bread and butter, salad, coffee or tea and dessert. Cost: spaghetti, $7; meatball hoagie, $5; quarts of sauce, $4.50. Dine in or take out.

Thursday: The YoYos Needle Arts group at Vandergrift Public Library will meet at 1 p.m. at the library, 128C Washington Ave. All skill levels welcome.
