Saxonburg church to present Christmas cantata
Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church, 100 W. Main St., will present its annual free Christmas cantata in person and online at 7 p.m. Saturday and 4 p.m. Sunday.
Selections will range from classical to contemporary with a string orchestra, house band and masked singers. The in-person audience will be limited to adhere to current health guidelines and face masks are required.
Registration is required at Saxonburg.org/Christmas to attend in person. To watch live online, click on the YouTube link at Saxonburg.org/Christmas or go to your YouTube app and search for Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church. Access will also be available on Facebook at facebook.com/saxonburgmpc.
Harrison diaper pantry plans monthly drive-up distribution
The Diaper Pantry at Christ Our Hope Anglican Church, Harrison, will distribute diapers 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, 926 Painter Ave., and at Sheldon Park, both in Natrona Heights.
Recipients must drive up and remain in their vehicles.
First-time recipients must still provide present their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.
Santa needs help: You can ‘adopt’ senior for Christmas
Concordia Lutheran Ministries has again opened its Adopt-A-Resident Program to the community.
Individuals, businesses and congregations may call the facility of their choice to “adopt” a resident and give him or her Christmas gifts. General gifts will also be accepted. The activities staff can suggest items that residents typically use.
Participating Valley locations and contacts are:
• Concordia at Cabot, Brandy Muth, 724-352-1571 ext. 8241 (skilled nursing residents), deadline is Tuesday; or Jaime White, ext. 8302 (personal care residents), deadline is Monday.
• Concordia of Fox Chapel, Kelly Ellena, 412-767-5808, deadline is Monday.
Local clothing closets closed due to virus epidemic
Three local clothing closets that help out the less fortunate in our communities are temporarily closed due to the increased numbers of covid-19 cases in the Valley.
They are:
• Christopher’s Light Children’s Charity will be closed at least through Jan. 11. No clothing donations are being accepted.
• The ClothesLine at Bethesda Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lower Burrell, will not be open until conditions improve. No clothing donations are being accepted.
• The New Kensington Clothes Closet will be closed until further notice.
Outdoor walk-thru Nativity planned Saturday
An outdoor walk-thru Nativity will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at New Beginnings United Methodist Church, 1559 Route 56, Kiski Township.
The event is sponsored by Vandergrift and New Beginnings United Methodist churches and will include live animals, scripture and a bagged snack. Social distancing and face masks are required.
Stuff-A-Trailer collection to benefit Allegheny Family Network
A Stuff a Trailer toy collection will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in Heights Plaza, Natrona Heights, Harrison, near Wendy’s Restaurant to benefit Allegheny Family Network.
Sponsored by the Protectors of the Phoenix MM, items needed include unwrapped toys, diapers, baby food and family supplies.
Allegheny Family Network supports parents raising children with mental or behavioral health challenges.

Today: Knead Community Café in New Kensington will hand out free grab-and-go dinners from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the café, 1011 Barnes St. This week’s dinner is sponsored by an anonymous donor. Those picking up meals are reminded to observe social distancing while they wait in line. There will be no dinners Dec. 24 or 31.
