Children’s charity conducting calendar fundraiser

Superheroes Believe in Miracles, a charity that serves children facing illness, disability or limitations is selling 2021 calendars that feature 13 children dressed up as their favorite superhero.

Calendars cost $10 plus $7 shipping if mailed. Pickup can be arranged in the Valley. To order, visit superheroesbelieveinmiracles.com.


Stuff-the-Cruiser event planned in Gilpin

A Stuff-The-Cruiser event to benefit Toys for Tots will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Gilpin Dollar General, 325 Route 66.

New, unwrapped toys will be accepted. Allegheny Toys for Tots is sponsored by the Allegheny Valley Marine Corps League No. 827.


Knead Community Café accepting donations

Knead Community Café, New Kensington, is accepting donations to help the daily operation of the café, 1011 Barnes St.

Items on the café’s wish list include: Clorox wipes, gallon containers of white vinegar, disposable latex or nitrile gloves size large or extra-large, white premium napkins, 6x6-inch or 9x9-inch single compartment Styrofoam hinged takeout containers, foil sheet wraps, instant iced mix with lemon and sugar, Tide or Gain laundry powdered detergent and Sam’s Club gift cards.

Donations will be accepted during business hours 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. A contactless wish list is also listed on Amazon.


Animal Protectors conducting Sarris candy sale

Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley is selling Sarris candy bars for $1.

Four flavors are available and they make great stocking stuffers. To buy or sell candy for Animal Protectors, email ezappa@animalprotectors.net.
