Free food pantry available Mondays

Streetlight Ministries in Tarentum offers a weekly food pantry for anyone in need from noon to 2 p.m. Mondays at 203 W. Seventh Ave.

There is a sign-up sheet in the vestibule after 8:30 a.m. Mondays and people are admitted through the line in order of signup.

A variety of breads, sweet goods, canned items, produce and meats will be available. Walk-ins are welcome but will admitted after those who have registered.

Household donations welcome for Hospitality Homes

The Hospitality Homes division of Allegheny Valley Association of Churches provides housing to families and individuals who have a disability and are experiencing homelessness.

Items needed include curtain rods, curtains, bath towels, wash towels, paper towels, toilet paper, dryer sheets, laundry detergent, dish detergent and pillows.

Donations are accepted from 9 a.m. to 5 weekdays at the center, 1913 Freeport Road, Harrison. For information, call 724-226-0606, ext. 10.

Monday : Beckley Jones, 5 is collecting blankets and gift bags for patients in the oncology department at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin. Donations can be taken to Chicora Alliance Church, 310 E Slippery Rock St. by Dec. 22. Donations will be delivered to the hospital on Dec. 23.

Harrison   

Jan. 17: Tri-County Trout Club is accepting table reservations for its annual sport show and flea market planned at Patterson Hall at Guardian Angels Parish, 800 Montana Ave. Vendors must sell new, used or collectable fishing, hunting, camping or sports items. Monday: Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company will host bingo at 7 p.m. at the firehall, 268 Canal St. Doors open at 5 p.m. The kitchen will be open.

Lower Burrell

Today: Grace Community Presbyterian Church will host a free Christmas party for children 10 and younger from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 2751 Grant St. The theme will be “Polar Express” and activities will include crafts, cookie decorating, coloring, the Christmas story and an opportunity to visit with Santa. Hot chocolate will be served.

Today: The Veterans of Foreign Wars will feature the G6 band from 7 to 10 p.m. at the post. Members and three guests welcome.

Parks Township

Through Dec. 25: Allegheny County Parks Department is sponsoring a holiday food drive for local food banks. Non-perishables can be taken from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays to the Four Seasons Lodge in Boyce Park.
