Santa schedules visits to New Kensington
The New Kensington volunteer fire companies got a call from Santa over the weekend to see if they could escort him through the city in preparation for his trip with toys on Christmas Eve.
The trips will be from 5:30 to around 8:30 p.m. today and Wednesday and will depend on road conditions, construction and timing. Children should not approach the fire vehicles.
The schedule will include:
Today: Oates, Francis, Martin, Seventh Street up through East Hills Drive, Aluminum City Terrace, the hill bounded by Constitution, North and Seventh, Charles, Pine Manor and the McKean Plan.
Wednesday: Valley Camp, Valley Heights, the Ryan plan, Rossmont, Glenview, 40 Acres, Marlboro, McLaughlin, Mary, Frank and Falcon Ridge.

Garbage collections delayed in Arnold and New Kensington
Garbage collections in Arnold and New Kensington will be delayed due to the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.
The schedules are:
• Arnold: Garbage will be picked up one day late. Dec. 28 will be picked up on Dec. 29, Dec. 29 will be picked up on Dec. 30 and Dec. 30 and 31 will be picked up Dec. 31. Recycling scheduled Dec. 25 will be picked up Dec. 29 and 30. City Hall will close at noon on Christmas Eve through Dec. 28. For questions, call city hall at 724-337-4441.
• New Kensington: Garbage pickup scheduled Christmas Day will be picked up Saturday. Pickups scheduled New Year’s Day will be collected Jan. 2. For questions, call 724-337-4523.
