Christmas Eve concert to feature local brass quintet

The Trinity Brass Quintet will present a Christmas Eve concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 847 10th Ave., Brackenridge.

The group will present traditional Christmas carols and seasonal classics. A worship service will begin at 8 p.m.

Free Christmas dinner planned at Oakmont Elks

The Oakmont Elks will host a free community dinner from 2 to 4 p.m. Christmas Day at the lodge, 106 Washington Ave.

Reservations are encouraged but not required. For reservations, call 412-828-1668 or email oakmontelks@gmail.com with your arrival time and the number of guests in your party. Don’t be alone on Christmas Day.

Wednesday and Thursday: Community Library of Allegheny Valley will be closed for the Christmas holiday. 

Jan. 17: Tri-County Trout Club is accepting table reservations for its annual sport show and flea market planned at Patterson Hall at Guardian Angels Parish, 800 Montana Ave. Vendors must sell new, used or collectable fishing, hunting, camping or sports items. Tuesday: The diaper pantry at Spring Church Lutheran Church, 3623 Lutheran Church Road, will distribute diapers from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church. Recipients must register in advance. Today: Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company will host bingo at 7 p.m. at the firehall, 268 Canal St. Doors open at 5 p.m. The kitchen will be open.

Lower Burrell

New Kensington

Oakmont

Plum    

Today: The quilting group at Holiday Park United Methodist Church, 81 Sandune Drive, will meet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the church chapel. The group sews baby quilts for donation to those in need and the Linus Project. New members welcome. Meetings are the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Sewing and quilting instructions are provided and no equipment is needed. Details: 724-327-6552.

Through Thursday: Allegheny County Parks Department is sponsoring a holiday food drive for local food banks. Non-perishables can be taken from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays to the Four Seasons Lodge in Boyce Park.

Tarentum

Tuesday: Alcoholics Anonymous will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, 305 Allegheny St.

Washington Township

Tuesdays and Thursdays: The Blessing Closet at Union Presbyterian Church will be open by appointment from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and 4 to 7 p.m. Thursdays at the church, 656 Route 380.
