Toys, treats being collected at Animal Protectors

Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley is collecting toys and treats for the animals in the shelter, 730 Church St., New Kensington.

Pick up a toy or some treats as you finish your shopping and drop off your donation at the shelter or purchase online and have your gift shipped directly to the shelter. Business hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Through Thursday: Allegheny County Parks Department is sponsoring a holiday food drive for local food banks. Non-perishables can be taken from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays to the Four Seasons Lodge in Boyce Park.

Wednesday through Friday: Springdale Free Public Library will be closed for the Christmas holiday.

Tarentum

Today: Alcoholics Anonymous will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, 305 Allegheny St.
