Christmas tree recycling locations announced

Several locations in the area will offer Christmas tree recycling.

They include:

Allegheny Township: maintenance building, 1169 School Road, open drop-off available any time through Jan. 31.

Boyce Park, Plum: 8 a.m. to dusk through Jan. 14 at the soccer fields parking lot

Deer Lakes Park, West Deer: 8 a.m. to dusk through Jan. 14 in the Veterans Shelter parking lot

Harrison Hills Park, Natrona Heights, Harrison: 8 a.m. to dusk through Jan. 14 in the parking lot at the intersection of Chipmunk and Cottontail drives.

Hartwood Acres Park, Indiana Township: 8 a.m. to dusk through Jan. 14 in the mansion parking lot

Indiana Township will offer free pickup for township residents on Monday. Residents should have trees at the curb by 7 a.m. for pickup some time that week.

Decorations and lights should be removed from trees before recycling.


Apollo-Ridge Education Foundation looking for career day participants

The Apollo-Ridge Education Foundation is seeking participants for a virtual career fair planned for students.

Participants will be interviewed and recorded for about five minutes. To offer your time, email kachurk@apolloridge.com to set up a Zoom meeting.


Lunches available for Highlands students

First United Presbyterian Church will provide free lunch supplies Monday for students in the Highlands School District to use over the holiday break.

Bags will include peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fruit, cheese and other goodies. A drive-up or walk-up distribution will be from 2 to 4 p.m. or as long as the food lasts Monday along the alley beside the church, 913 Lock St. For details, email ccmhbeck@gmail.com.
