Pearl Harbor service planned Saturday
Brackenridge American Legion will host a Pearl Harbor remembrance service at noon Saturday at the post, 845 E. First Ave.
The public is welcome.
New Kensington to celebrate the season on Saturday
Several holiday activities are planned Saturday in New Kensington:
• Santa will be at Knead Community Café, 1011 Barnes St., from 10 a.m. to noon. Children age 10 and younger can enjoy a free breakfast. Donations of hats, scarves, mittens and socks for adults and children will be accepted for the Community Clothes Closet.
• The New Kensington Rotary will host its annual Santa Breakfast and Gift Workshop from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Salvation Army, 1101 Fifth Ave.Breakfast will be served for $2, free for children, courtesy of Chris Kaminsky and Turner Dairy. There will be photos with Santa, treat bags, cookies and a Santa’s Workshop for children to purchase gifts for family members. Tom, the 9-foot-tall nutcracker, will be on display.
• The parade will begin at 11 a.m. Dec. 7 at Barnes and Eighth Street, proceed up Fifth Avenue to 11th Street, left to Fourth Avenue and past the reviewing stand at Fourth Avenue and Ninth Street. A touch-a-truck event will be afterward in the 700 block of Fourth Avenue in front of the fire station.
Small Town Christmas planned Saturday in Freeport
Freeport Celebrates a Small Town Christmas, sponsored by Freeport Renaissance Association, will be Saturday in the borough.
Events include a breakfast with Santa at 8:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church, vendors and entertainment from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the former junior high school, and visits with Santa from 2 to 4 p.m. at Freeport Volunteer Fire Hall.
The Christmas parade will begin at 5 p.m. A community church service will be at 6:30 p.m. at Freeport United Methodist Church, 411 High St. with a cookie social afterward. For a complete schedule, visit Freeport Renaissance Association on Facebook.
Santa to visit Lower Burrell Saturday
Lower Burrell Volunteer Fire Department. No. 3, 3255 Leechburg Road, will host a free Cookies with Santa event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the fire hall.
Children are welcome to visit with Santa and decorate cookies.
Cheswick to host Santa and Mrs. Claus
Christmas at the Gazebo in Cheswick will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the gazebo on Pittsburgh Street.
Sponsored by the borough recreation board and volunteer fire company, free cookies and hot chocolate will be served and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand.
Harrison Parade and Festival set Saturday
The Harrison Christmas Parade and Festival will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, rain or shine.
The parade will start at 4 p.m. at the intersection of Alabama Avenue and Broadview Blvd., right onto Liberty Avenue, left onto Union Avenue and end in the Heights Plaza parking lot. The festival will be after the parade in the plaza parking lot in front of the former Senator Ferlo office.
There will be performing groups, DJ Michael Zeiler, children’s crafts, food trucks and an appearance from Santa. Donations will be accepted for Toys for Tots.

Deer Lakes students to perform at Allegheny County Courthouse
The Deer Lakes High School Concert Choir and Symphonic Band will perform today on the Grand Staircase inside the Allegheny County Courthouse, 436 Grant St., Pittsburgh.
The band will play at 11:30 a.m. and the choir performance will start at 12:20 p.m. The date was incorrect in Tuesday’s edition.
