Chamber ensemble to perform in Tarentum

Central Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, will present a concert, “Russian Holiday,” at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church, 305 Allegheny St.

The Academy Chamber Ensemble will perform works by Tchaikovsky and Hayden, as well as holiday favorites.

HOPE Center seeks donations

The Alle-Kiski HOPE Center is seeking donations of clothing and personal items for the clients that it serves.

Items most needed include new pajamas, slippers, socks, underwear for all sizes and genders, full-size shampoo and body wash, hair brushes, combs and Chapstick.

Donations can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the center, 500 E. Eighth Ave., Tarentum. For details and alternate arrangements, call 724-224-1100.


Donations sought for West Deer toy drive

West Deer Police Department is sponsoring its 23rd annual Toys for Children drive to benefit children age 1 to 14 living in low-income households in the Deer Lakes School District.

New toys can be dropped off from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through Tuesday at the police department, 109 East Union Road. Monetary donations can be sent to West Deer Toys for Children Christmas Fund, 109 East Union Road, Cheswick PA 15024. Money will be used to purchase additional toys, winter clothing and wrapping paper supplies.

Butler Lions plan annual Christmas tree sale

The annual Christmas tree sale sponsored by the Butler Lions Club is underway at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Butler.

The sale schedule is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays, 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays and 5 to 7 p.m. Fridays, while supplies last.

Monday: The Cookbook Club at Oakmont Carnegie Library will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the library White Oak Room. Stop in the library, look through this month’s cookbook, select a recipe you would like to make, and prepare and bring it to the meeting. Tableware will be provided. New members welcome. Sunday: An all you can eat Breakfast with Santa Claus will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Springdale Volunteer Fire Department, 845 Lincoln Ave. There will be children’s crafts, a 50/50 raffle and basket auction. Cost: $8; age 3 to 10, $5, younger than 3, free.

West Leechburg

Sunday: The Leechburg Area Pool Board will meet at 4 p.m. in the West Leechburg Borough Building, 105 Jay St. Volunteers are needed for board positions.
